Business Directories
The All Canada Business Registry has served its purpose and there are now other online search engines and directories available.
Our initial objective was to force the telephone directories and particularly the Yellow Pages to provide online services. They were dragged kicking and screaming onto the Internet. They still only provide "Business Listings" to those paying "business" telephone rates, excluding the more than 25% of Canadian businesses that operate from homes and use "residential" phones and rates. Yellow Pages advertising is still very expensive and for many companies there are only marginal returns. The Internet has become a great equalizer allowing even a small business to compete with the big guys.
