NTI Occurrence & Major Case Management

NTI Case Manager was built to the specifications of a committee of more than 20 senior law enforcement investigators from a wide range of agencies. The system is ViCLAS (Violent Crime Linkage Analysis System) compatible.

The system is built on an extremely powerful and flexible engine, applying a series of templates. It is applicable to virtually every type of investigation, from basic general occurrences to highly complex major investigations..

There are many shortcuts built-in which save time and reduce error potential. For example, extensive use is made of "Pick L:ists". With the cursor placed in a field marked as having a Pick List, pressing F11 produces a drop-down menu of choices. Selecting one or more choices prints that information in the field. This provides consistent vocabulary and avoids spelling and typing errors.

Where multiple copies of a form are required, with minor data changes, (i.e. multiple victims in the same family at the same location), a duplicate copy of a completed form can be made with 1 mouse click and only the variable information needs to be changed.

Queries can be run within a category of documents, across the entire case file in all documents, or even across every file in the entire network as required. Queries can be free-form (default) or field specific. The default free-form search finds every occurance of the character string(s) anywhere in the entire file. Pre-designed reports can be generated, as can on-the-fly custom reports. New reports can be designed by an operator. NTI provides information management flexibility beyond anything previously available. This system is easy for a field operator to learn. Investigators and analysts will be pleased with the ease with which even obscure but important details can be identified, extracted and organized.

The software is fully Windows compliant and can link to Microsoft standard Windows applications, including OLE links. These hypertext links load the appropriate external applications and the related file. For example, an Excel spreadsheet can be "called" from within a Case Manager record or a video clip can be run.

The package includes a graphic display manager, MediaLink, which can be used to run slide shows, hot link to other images to "zoom-in" on aerial photos or crime scene details or load and run other software.

MediaLink, our graphics management package, provides interactive slideshows and "hot spot" links to other images or applications. Each image can become an image map, allowing different parts of the image to be hypertext linked to another image, file or software package. For example, such image mapping can be used for progressive zooming into an aerial photo, moving through a crime scene, or playing sounds related to the image.
